Friday, February 27, 2009 finds the sun shining in Bellingham's Fairhaven District; and the snow has just about disappeared! So, while the sun is shining, soak it up! It's a good source of Vitamin D.
Did you KNOW...that research links a Vitamin D deficit to multiple sclerosis in people with a genetic predisposition for the disease? More than 2.5 million people worldwide are thought to suffer from the condition and it is most common in people living in northern climes with low annual average sunlight levels.
Researchers found that Vitamin D activates proteins that lock onto a segment of DNA next to a certain gene - called DRBI-1501- which has been implicated in the development of MS. These proteins regulate what the gene does, in effect switching it on. If there is a lack of Vitamin D in the body, the gene may not function properly.*
COMICAL TIDBIT: The following is from a book entitled Disorder in the American Courts and is something a person actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporter(s) that had the torment of staying calm while this exchange (and others) actually took place.
ATTORNEY: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning?
WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam?
Any plans for the weekend? If you are thinking about buying a home or just dreaming about a future home, check out the Open Houses on our Home Page for the date and times and come if you can.
